16.5 – this year’s Open comes to an end
It has been a real inspiration and a pleasure to watch many of you participate in the 2016 Open series – that applies to both those who registered and those who did it just for kicks. The Open WODs always seem to bring out the best in people. Athletes dig deep to push themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. They forge new boundaries and in doing so, jump into the driver’s seat of their own evolution. There is nothing better as a Coach than watching someone perform a feat they did not think they were capable of. It’s an adrenaline rush that few people get to experience (on both sides). You know what I mean – when you get that lift that has eluded you for so long, or you get those few extra reps out that, under normal circumstances, you would have just not even worried about. I think a lot of this extra push is driven by those around you who are supporting you whole-heartedly, because they know the pain you feel, and the euphoria of achievement. That judge or spectator who utters the simple words of “pick it up”, or “just 3 more”, or “UP!” can make all the difference. So when you look back and reflect on your Open experience, be proud of what you have accomplished and give a little high-5 to everyone who was there in your corner. And as we transition out of this hyper-competitive state, remember that we can carry this vibe into our regular sessions, because every WOD is an opportunity for you to make changes to you and those around you.
Good luck to everyone doing 16.5 today.
Do what needs to be done.
PS. We are only open 9.30am and 5.15pm today.
